We ARE Family

Holidays always seem to be a stressful time for me... I spend too much time bogged down with making sure everything is picture perfect- and then when things don't go as planned, I feel like I'm out of control. I either pick a fight with the hubby, throw a fit and demand the kids need just one more present, or somehow get my panties in a ruffle. But not today. Today, the weather was beautiful, and the day was a little slice of heaven.

My family is probably one of the closest families you will ever find. And when I say family, I mean all 30+ of us... because we all live within miles of each other and see one other all the time. We genuinely love to spend time together- Sometimes to a fault.:) We hug and kiss, and make each other laugh. We're not always the classiest of families, but that's o.k... We are who we are. Family traditions run deep with us and every year we have an Easter Egg Hunt. Every year, my uncle hides an Easter Egg- and we all get a laugh out of it. We never tire of his joke.

Today, my uncle informed me that if you take up cycling, you will indeed have buns of steel. I'll take his word for it... because after trying to hide an Easter egg myself and failing miserably, I have a new goal. Bring on the bike. I actually started taking spinning classes this week, and I'm looking forward to them now more than ever!

In fact, I have many new goals. LA Boxing is by far my meat and potatoes. It's my hobby, my stress reliever, and my one hour that I look forward to. With that being said, it's taught me so much. It's pushed me to try new things- things I never would have thought possible. It's taught me how to kick my workouts up a notch and to set goals. It's also taught me when you're just about knocked out- like I was this week, to pick yourself up, brush off, and get ready for another round. And most of all, it's taught me that everything doesn't have to be perfect. I'm happier with myself, and just happier in life in general.

Afterall, things don't have to be perfect, to be perfect.:)

  2. Good for you! I love spinning. I have been going to LA boxing on MWF 6:30am and Sat 9:30am. This week I am going to hit the 6:00am spin class on Tue and Thurs at the gym. Feeling like a different person even though the pounds are being stubborn.

  3. Glad to hear you are getting back at it! I overcame my fear of classes last week and attended one at my gym. I will be adding it to my weekly workouts now!
