O' Happy Day!

Yesterday when I blogged, I was in a foul mood. I was just having a bad day. I felt awful because I felt like I had spent hours away from my family working out only to blow it with my atrocious eating. It just seemed like a wasted week. I told my mom how I was down, and she told me that yesterday, January 24th, is officially the most depressing day of the year. It was even on the news. I swear, you can google it!

I've always been a positive person and I like to look at life with a "the glass is half full" attitude... So, I'm officially out of my funk and ready to make more progress. No more Debbie Downer going on here.:)

During my training session today, I had some revelations...

-In a month and a half, I have gone from using 2 1/2- 5 pound dumbbells in classes to lifting 20 pound dumbbells for full sets!
-I was able to do 6 real push-ups today. Now granted, the sixth one had a crazy sound effect because it took all my might. I know six push-ups don’t sound like much to some... but it's big for me. Real big.
-Justin commented that I was getting striations in my hamstrings. Hollllaaaa! Striations- is that a word? I'm probably way off on that one- but he was talking about those little lines... or something that looks good. And I have to say, my legs have come a long way. Maybe this summer I will be able to sport my old cowboy boots. Remember, I'm being positive!:)
-I can do sets of 100 reps. As in, 100 squats, 100 chest presses, 100 sit-ups. It’s not fun, and 100 is a lot of reps, but the point is, I can do it.:)
-Tonight when I went to the gym to do some extra cardio, I didn’t have to enter my weight starting with 17… Go me! Yes, you read that right… extra cardio.:)
-Oh, and today, I gave my daughter a leftover Santa gift- an Easy Bake oven. We spent the afternoon making a cake and frosting. And who ate the cake mix and licked the bowl? Not me! A-MAZ-ING!

In other news, let me introduce you to someone that is now important in my life. Meet the bag. Can I just tell you that I hate this thing? I love hitting, elbowing, and kicking it, but do you know that this bag only weighs a buck fifty. Yep, that's right- many instructors remind us that it's a 150 pound bag (and I was wrong- it's not filled with sand, but with shredded t-shirts- oh, the things I learn!). I HATE hearing that it's 150 pounds. It's huge, heavy, has no shape, and reminds me of Mr. Hanky Poo.

I mean come on. Seriously, I weigh more than that? Ugh! That has to change! I have my second wind, and I'm ready to go... (Enter, music to Eye of the Tiger)
